Macdonell Elementary School teachers have $5,000 worth of new possibilities for their classrooms thanks to a generous donation from Burlington through its partnership with the national nonprofit organization AdoptAClassroom.org.
The donation was presented Friday morning during a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of Burlington’s newest Laredo location at The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo. Macdonell’s Mighty Hawks also helped welcome Burlington to the community, bringing plenty of school spirit to the celebration with special performances by the school’s choir and cheerleaders.
The $5,000 donation will help teachers purchase classroom supplies, learning materials, and other resources to support students throughout the school year.
“On behalf of C.M. Macdonell Elementary School, we are deeply honored to be selected as the recipient of this generous award. Our campus is defined by dedicated educators, staff, and students who strive for academic excellence every single day,” Macdonell Elementary Principal Michelle Gonzalez said. “This partnership will directly provide our teachers with essential resources and instructional tools to foster student success. We extend our sincere gratitude to Burlington for investing in our school and our future.”
As part of Burlington’s holistic community giving approach to adding value to local communities, the retailer partners with the national nonprofit AdoptAClassroom.org to help empower those in its local store communities to live better lives and build brighter futures. Each time Burlington opens a new store, the company celebrates by adopting and funding local classrooms within the new store community.
For Macdonell Elementary School, the contribution means additional resources can go directly into classrooms, giving teachers another opportunity to provide the Mighty Hawks with the tools and materials they need to learn, grow, and succeed. With the support of community partners, Macdonell students can continue breaking barriers in the classroom and beyond.
